THE CLOSER

So far, this book has been all about my story of survival, and the things I did. Now allow me to help you take the tools and experiences I have gone through, so you can learn from them and step up your game.

What can you tell about a mindset? The reason why you have or have not is because of the way you think. So, it would be really easy for me, with all the excuses I have, to sit around with a poor-me pity party. "I've been adopted. I've been arrested. I've been imprisoned. I've been divorced over, and over, and over. I can't seem to get shit together in my personal life. I continue to have family businesses that didn't work out."

Instead, I push on with as much integrity as absolutely possible and with as much discipline as absolutely necessary. We live in a very, very, very cold world, whether you want to have some skewed hipster view of it or not. Everything on this planet can and will kill you if you give it a chance. You could be walking down a flight of stairs at your house, apartment, or job and trip, fall, hit your head and die instantly at any given moment. Something could fall from the sky. You could get in a car accident. You have to reflect on what you would leave behind if your life ended instantly.

Would you be missed for a minute?

Would you be missed for a month?

Would you be missed for a millennium?

The mindset you have to adopt is you're ready to win and that you're not going to let the people around you and the world you live in dictate how to roll in this life. You’re not going to let it tell you what you can't do. I've been told I couldn't do stuff my entire life. I've been told, "Ryan, you can't do that. You're a felon. Ryan, you can't do that. You've already screwed it up before." Over and over. I've been scolded, reprimanded and every other word you can think of to throw in there relating to punishment. But the reason I pressed on is I know there’s a higher calling. I knew, when I had that dream in prison, there was something to it. That I had to make it happen. I knew I had to deliver books, trainings, videos and everything else, in order to spread my message. I couldn't just leave it lying dormant. We all have a story in us. We all have amesomeness we can deliver. The problem is we all have that one person (or maybe more) in our life who’s telling us we shouldn't do it.

For years, I wanted to tell this story and write this book, but I was concerned with how my parents might feel about it. I was concerned with how my ex-wives might feel about it. I'm not concerned anymore because I have a message. Whatever comes my way, will come my way.
